07. Why is my demat account currently inactive or frozen?"

A demat account may be frozen for a variety of reasons. Below are some of the most common causes:
- At the request of the account holder.
- As directed by a statutory body or authority established by law.
- Due to non-compliant or invalid KYC/PAN details.
- When a minor account holder turns major and the account is not updated accordingly.
- For non-payment of dues to the Depository Participant (DP).
- Based on a SEBI order or directive.
- Upon instructions from judicial authorities or a court order.
- As requested by law enforcement agencies such as the Police or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
- Following a request from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
- Upon direction from the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO).
- Based on a request from the Directorate of Enforcement (ED).
- As instructed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
- Based on a directive from the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT).
- At the request of tax authorities, including Income Tax, Service Tax, Sales Tax, Customs, or Central Excise.
- Due to non-compliance with the six mandatory KYC attributes: name, PAN, valid mobile number, valid email ID, complete address, and income details.
- When the PAN is marked inoperative.
- If the account holder is a designated person of a company subject to restrictions.
- Based on instructions from an Income Tax Officer (ITO).
- In the event of the death of any account holder (first, second, or third).
- Following an order from a Special Recovery Officer.
- If the PAN is under restriction or restraint.
- Or for other regulatory or compliance-related reasons.
