Frequently Asked Question

01. What is Demat Debit and Pledge Instruction (DDPI)?
Last Updated 8 months ago

Demat Debit and Pledge Instruction (DDPI) is a document that authorizes a broker to debit securities from a client's demat account and deliver them to the exchange. Once DDPI is submitted, the client no longer needs to enter the CDSL T-PIN or OTP to sell shares.

SEBI introduced DDPI through this circular (WEB), which restricts the debiting of shares from a client's account to only when the client initiates a sell trade. DDPI replaced the POA on November 19, 2022.
