Frequently Asked Question
19. What is Demat Debit and Pledge Instruction (DDPI), and how to activate it online and offline?
Last Updated 10 months ago
The Demat Debit and Pledge Instruction (DDPI) is a document that authorizes a broker to debit securities from a client's demat account and deliver them to the exchange. Once the DDPI is submitted, the client doesn't need to enter the CDSL T-PIN or OTP to sell shares.
SEBI introduced DDPI through this circular (WEB), which restricts the debiting of shares from a client's account to only when the client places a sell order. DDPI replaced the Power of Attorney (POA) on November 19, 2022.
