Frequently Asked Question
The Demat Debit and Pledge Instruction (DDPI) is a document that authorizes a broker to debit securities from the client's demat account and transfer them to the exchange. Once the DDPI is submitted, the client no longer needs to enter the CDSL T-PIN or OTP to sell shares.
SEBI introduced DDPI through this circular (WEB), which restricts the debiting of shares from a client's account to only when the client initiates a sell trade. DDPI replaced the Power of Attorney (POA) on November 19, 2022.
