Frequently Asked Question
05. What is an Overseas Corporate Body (OCB), and Can It Invest in Indian Markets?
Last Updated 8 months ago
An Overseas Corporate Body (OCB) refers to any company, partnership firm, society, or other corporate entity that is directly or indirectly owned by Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). This also includes overseas trusts where NRIs hold at least 60% of the beneficial interest, provided the ownership is not in the capacity of a nominee.
However, OCBs are not permitted to invest in Indian markets, as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) derecognized them in 2003 (PDF)
